James Kilbane photos from Corofin Church on www.johnmcmanusphotography.com MULTI-PLATINUM SELLING ARTIST JAMES KILBANE BRINGS GALA CONCERT TO COROFIN CHURCH: Following the success of the Gala concert held in Corofin church twelve months ago the Corofin Community Development Association are now organising an enchanting Christmas concert in St. Colmans church to be held on Sunday 8th December commencing at 8pm and will feature multi-platinum selling Christian, country gospel and Irish singer, James Kilbane. James was the runner up in Ireland's national talent television show You're A Star in 2003 / 2004 and since then he has established his career with his mix of gospel, Christian, country and folk music. Since his success in You're a Star, Kilbane has gone on to record and release a number of well received albums including King of the Road, Close to You, Hymns of Praise, Divine Love, Life's Miracle, Heart to Heart, Glory and Grace, and Songs Of Ireland, as well as his Christmas album titled The Christmas Collection. In March 2012 he released his ninth album Gravel & Grace. Songs of Faith, Life & Hope includes many popular songs and previously released radio singles. Many of Kilbane’s albums are Nashville and Irish collaborations. One of these projects was in 2008 he released on his fourth Gospel album Heart to Heart was a new anthem for the House of the Virgin Mary titled "Mary's House, Our Lady of Ephesus". Mary's House is located at Meryem Ana Evi, Ephesus, Turkey. In March 2013 James released his first compilation album is released in association with Gold Eagle Music and Veritas Publications in Dublin, Ireland who are the leading Irish Christian publishers and retail group for religious publications, media and goods. For the Year of Faith James is the voice of Veritas. The album was released to celebrate the Year of Faith and presents 20 tracks giving a flavour of 200 years of Irish Christian and faith based music that many have held dear in prayer and in their spiritual lives. Originally from Achill Island in 2012 Kilbane was voted "Irish Gospel Singer of the Year" for his music and work. In June 2012 James and his country band were invited to perform a selection of his Country Gospel music as part of the 50th International Eucharistic Congress in RDS Arena in Dublin, Ireland. Kilbane continues to contribute to other major religious events in Ireland which include major events at the international shrine of Knock. He has been involved in Irish cross border religious music events and projects. He continues to record and tour at home and abroad. He is currently working on three major projects that will be worked and released in 2013 and early 2014. Over the past four years James has also been a leading member of the cast in the hit Irish Summer stage show "The Legend of Grainne Mhaol". A multi-platinum selling artist and Kilbane is now acknowledged as one of the finest singers of his generation and today Kilbane is still one of the best selling solo artists in Ireland not alone for his country gospel but also outselling other Irish independent artists in all music styles. A winning formula for Kilbane is that home grown style attracts all ages and people of every walk of life to his music and events. For many there are messages of hope and of overcoming adversity contained within Kilbane’s music which speaks to all people at whatever stage of their own journey, as well as reaching those who struggle with life and faith. Today Kilbane is regularly featured on Irish television as well as international channels like EWTN, Gospel TV and Revelation TV television. In Ireland Kilbane is well known for his work with all Christian traditions particularly along the border counties of Northern Ireland that experienced religious tension and violence during the troubles. James remarked “I try to go where there is a welcome and music is a bridge to us all in faith and bringing peace. I always have made great effort to making our events possible for all communities and to make an effort to giving people an enjoyable experience and nice country faith event. I am excited and I’m looking forward to my return”. His latest album ‘The Songs of Faith Collection’ is a co-release with Veritas the leading Irish Christian publisher which is marking the Roman Catholic Year of Faith and is currently a top Irish selling album. Wonderful Climb of Diamond Hill: The sun shone down on Saturday morning as the Corofin troops boarded the bus to take on Diamond Hill and savour its majestic views! The humor was upbeat on the trip there with a lovely gathering of friends and neighbours to converse with on the two hour trip. Sun 28th July 11am – 6pm: COROFIN AGRICULTURAL & VINTAGE FAMILY DAY: Exhibition of huge variety of livestock & animals, Shearing demos, Trade Stands, Kids Amusements, Baking Competitions, Auction and Novelty Games for all the family - along with a display of High Nelly Bikes in Skehills field. Music from Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann from 12 noon to 2pm, followed by musician Joe Geraghty & other acts during the day. Competitions on Day: Baking Competition –Treat Café are sponsoring a baking competition on the day and the categories are as follows – Brown Bread, Tarts, Cupcakes and a children’s category ‘Cookies’. All entries in by 2pm to the Competition Tent and judges will be announcing winners by 3pm. Prizes and Rosettes on the day. All entries will then be sold with teas & coffees to public. Bonny Baby Competiton – Leufers Tuam are sponsoring and judging the Bonny Baby competition. Entries from 0-2 years. Please bring baby to the competition tent by 2pm and winners announced by 4pm. Scarecrow Competition – Create a novelty scarecrow and bring them down to the field where they will be on display and judged during the day in the Scarecrows Patch. Prizes for 1st, 2nd & 3rd. Dog Show – Bring along your family pet at 1pm – there are 15 categories on the day – Redmill products and Rosettes for the category winners. Trades stands with a variety of crafts, garden products, foods, novelty items, etc… Entrance to the field €5 per person & children free. FESTIVAL FINALE: End the festival with a fun evening for all of the family - BBQ by Nicolsons for €5 per person with music by the ‘Double Deckers’ back in the Festival Marquee from 6pm to 9pm. Corofin native Niall Higgins will have commence his sponsored cycle this Wednesday 19th of June covering 390 miles of road from Mizen to Malin Head to raise funds for the local community development projects in Corofin.
Corofin Community Development Association (CCDA) are inviting you to join us on this Saturday 1st June in Raftery’s Corofin at 8.30pm for a fun night to re-live the wonderful ‘Celebrity Jigs & Reels’ event which took place in March giving you an opportunity to watch the dancers strut their stuff all over again. The event is to thank the dancers for their commitment and dedication on the run up to the event and for all those who contributed to make the event a wonderful success – no cover charge.Further pictures of the event available here
Corofin native Niall Higgins will battle the elements on Wednesday 19th of June covering 390 miles of road from Mizen to Malin Head to raise funds for the local community development projects. Niall will cycle through mountainous terrain and country roads probably through torrential downpours and blazing sun (all seasons in one day in Ireland) certainly not for the faint hearted.
